GUIDELINES FOR THE SUPPORT OF
DISCIPLINE OR INSTITUTIONAL GROUPS

The CAEC accepts its responsibility to encourage the formation of and to provide continued support for peer groups of faculty in discipline areas and other institutional personnel ion institution groups. The regular exchange of information, sharing of experiences, and communication links established by these groups benefit the participants, their institutions and the communities they serve.

  1. To that end, the Consortium Council:

    1. Through the Dean’s Council encourages the formation of discipline groups of faculty.

    2. Through the Executive Committee encourages the formation of other institutional groups, i.e., Registrars, Continuing Education, Student Services, Libraries, etc.

  2. Through the Dean’s Council and Executive Committee, the Consortium Council:

    1. Appoints Conveners of discipline and institutional groups from among faculty and administrative staff of member institutions normally for a term of two years.

    2. List the individuals who agree to accept the responsibility as Convener (or elected officer) of a discipline or institutional group in the annual Consortium directory.

    3. Maintains records of group meetings, including lists of participants in discipline or institutional groups, in the Consortium office.

  3. The Vice-Chairperson of the Consortium Council will present an annual report tot he Consortium Council of the activities of the discipline and institutional groups supported by the Consortium.

  4. The Convener (or elected officer) of a discipline or institutional group accepts these responsibilities to the Consortium:

    1. To request of the Consortium Council recognition as an acknowledged Consortium Group.

    2. To promote the participation of representatives from all Consortium institutions in group meetings, as appropriate to the discipline or institutional group.

    3. To convene at least one meeting of the group each year.

    4. To provide records of group meetings, including lists of participants in group activities and meetings, to the Vice-Chairperson of the Consortium Council.

  5. The Consortium Council may be able to provide limited financial resources ($60 annually as of April, 1985) to support activities of a recognized Consortium group. The Convener must provide appropriate receipts of expenditures to the Vice-Chairperson of the Consortium Council should support be requested.
