The Integrated Education and Training (IET) Program combines adult education, workforce preparation, and occupational skills training into one career-focused pathway.
Participants strengthen academic, technical, digital, and employability skills while exploring careers through jobsite tours, workplace visits, and networking with employers and labor unions.
Depending on the pathway, learners may earn industry-recognized certifications and prepare for employment, postsecondary education, pre-apprenticeships, or registered apprenticeships. The program provides a direct bridge from education to sustainable careers.
Construction Career Pathways Program
The Colorado Adult Education Coalition's Construction Career Pathways Program is a 10-week Integrated Education and Training (IET) program for high school and adult learners. Through live online instruction, participants build academic, technical, and workplace skills while preparing for careers in construction and the skilled trades.

The curriculum includes safety training, material handling, construction math, hand and power tools, construction drawings and blueprint reading, workforce readiness, jobsite communication, OSHA 10 preparation, First Aid/CPR preparation, and career exploration through employer, labor union, and jobsite visits.
Participants earn a Pre-Apprenticeship Certificate of Completion and may also earn OSHA 10 and First Aid/CPR certifications. Learners working toward a high school credential may also earn a GED based on individual progress.

Graduates are prepared to pursue employment, pre-apprenticeships, registered apprenticeships, and careers in construction, infrastructure, transportation, manufacturing, and other skilled trades.

CAEC partners with employers, labor unions, workforce organizations, schools, and community organizations to expand career opportunities and connect learners to education, training, and employment across Colorado.

Cohort 1- Construction Career Pathway
Today marked an exciting milestone as Cohort 1 of the Colorado Adult Education Coalition's Integrated Education and Training (IET) Pre-Apprenticeship Program gathered for hands-on learning at the Sheet Metal Union training facility.
​
Participants had the opportunity to step into a real trades environment, explore industry tools and equipment, and begin building the foundational skills needed for careers in the skilled trades. This experience reinforces CAEC's commitment to connecting adult learners with high-quality workforce training, industry partners, and registered apprenticeship pathways.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the Sheet Metal Union for welcoming our learners and supporting the next generation of Colorado's skilled workforce. Partnerships like these help bridge education and employment while creating meaningful career opportunities for adult learners across the state.

A special thank you to Jess St. Peter, CAEC volunteer board chair and instructor, whose leadership, industry expertise, and dedication were instrumental in the success of Cohort 1. Jess's commitment to mentoring learners and sharing over 30 years of skilled trades experience helped create an engaging, hands-on learning environment that inspired confidence and career readiness.
